Long live Michalov!
The seasonal exhibition of 2024 is a celebration of the 120th anniversary of the founding of the largest and most beautiful park in Přerov. On almost 20 hectares of its area, visitors will also find a natural biotope with vegetation reminiscent of the original floodplain forest, which, due to its location close to the city, has been a place of visits for the inhabitants of Přerov since ancient times.
At the end of the 19th century, thanks to the beautification association, it began to turn into a park, initially with minor modifications. By approaching the garden architect František Thomayer, who created a design in the style of French gardens, the modern history of the park began to be written. The park was gradually built and used for decades to relax and entertain the city's residents. It grew into a beauty and experienced years of decline, suffering major injuries due to floods in 1997. For its 100th birthday, it received a beautiful gift from the city of Přerov - a complete reconstruction in a historical style according to the original designs of the park. And the way the park is cared for to this day can also be attributed to the city's credit.
Despite human interventions, the park is still a forest, the trees are still home to many species of animals, and beneath them there is a herbaceous layer that blooms mainly in the spring with floodplain forest flowers. We can also find introduced trees here, which are meant to show visitors a fragment of the diversity of the world's nature and make the park special. And the beauty of the park is underlined every year by the ornamental plantings of annuals, on which many kinds of insects feed...
