Mushroom consultancy

IMPORTANT:
It is necessary to bring mushrooms to the counselling centre strictly uncleaned and untrimmed, and if possible, bring several fruiting bodies at different developmental stages. The counselling centre is open every Monday from 9:00 to 15:00, or by telephone appointment.

During mushroom season, the mycologist often goes out into the field. If he is not present during the opening hours, we will take your mushrooms, store them in a cool place, and the mycologist will identify them and call you back as soon as possible. If you wish to meet him in person, please call ahead to check whether he is available.

We do NOT identify mushrooms over the phone!

The Mushroom Counselling Centre is a service for the general public
Its purpose is to provide information to both beginning and experienced mushroom pickers about the mushrooms they find and bring in, especially species from the wild. The staff member will provide basic information about the brought specimens free of charge, directly on site.

The centre’s activities focus mainly on mushroom education and on the prevention of risks associated with mushroom picking, especially the prevention of mushroom poisonings. For edible species, their culinary value and possible uses may also be discussed.

When rare or legally protected mushroom species are found, the finder can help with mapping them, thereby enriching knowledge about their distribution and other mycological values.
